Coros Vertix straps and accessories – All models
A Coros Vertix is a powerhouse. Its generous display and solid titanium or stainless steel case make it indispensable at high altitudes, but the extra weight also places extremely high demands on the watch strap. A substandard strap means the watch risks sliding around on your arm during intense movements, which is not only uncomfortable but also impairs the optical heart rate sensor’s ability to read your metrics when you need them most.
Temperature fluctuations and a dynamic fit
When you’re out and about in alpine environments or engaging in winter mountaineering, your conditions are constantly changing. A woven textile or nylon strap with a stepless Velcro-style fastening is often the most practical choice in cold climates. The material doesn’t feel cold against the skin and allows you to quickly loosen the strap when your wrist swells during a tough climb. The unlimited adjustability also makes it easier to fasten the watch directly over a thick base layer or shell jacket, so you can check your route and altitude data without having to roll up your sleeves in a snowstorm.
Maximised grip and quick cleaning in the field
For summer expeditions, canyoning or tough trail running in deep forests, silicone is by far the most practical material. Silicone’s natural friction grips the skin and acts as a shock absorber, preventing the heavy Vertix case from rotating when you use your hands to climb or break a fall. What’s more, the material is completely unaffected by mud, sweat and salt water. After a muddy stage, you can simply rinse the watch and strap in the nearest mountain stream, dry it off quickly and immediately have a clean watch ready for the night in the tent.
Prepare your Vertix for the unexpected: Protection and power
The sapphire crystal on a Coros Vertix is incredibly scratch-resistant, but during technical rock climbing, pointed rocks and sharp ledges can still cause damage if they strike the screen directly and with force. An extra screen protector acts as an invisible shield that takes the brunt of the impact instead of your expensive display. As the Vertix is known for being able to track data for weeks on a single charge, it’s easy to forget the charging cable at home. By packing an extra charger in your base camp kit or in your car’s glove compartment, you can ensure you never miss logging an expedition due to a flat battery.
Frequently asked questions about Coros Vertix accessories
Does my Coros Vertix require a specific strap width?
Yes, the Vertix range consists of quite large watches that require wider straps to sit securely. The first-generation Coros Vertix uses 22mm-wide straps. However, if you’ve upgraded to the Coros Vertix 2 or Vertix 2S, you’ll need sturdy straps that are a full 26mm wide. Always check your exact model using our navigation above before finalising your choice.
Can the straps be worn over a thick winter jacket?
A standard silicone strap is often designed to sit directly against the skin and may be too short for thick winter clothing. If you plan to wear your Vertix over a thick down jacket or a heavy-duty Gore-Tex sleeve, we recommend an extra-long fabric strap, as these often offer more leeway and flexibility in the fastening than traditional buckles.
Can the lugs withstand heavy impacts if the watch hits a rock face?
Absolutely. Straps designed for the Vertix and wider lugs are fitted with robust pins (often made of stainless steel) that are built to withstand high tensile forces. As long as you ensure that the strap’s quick-release fastener has clicked securely into the case when changing it, the watch will remain extremely secure even during sudden jerks and impacts.
My silicone strap feels stiff in very cold weather – is this normal?
High-quality silicone is designed to withstand extreme temperature drops without cracking. However, it may become slightly less flexible in severe cold compared to room temperature. If you frequently find yourself in sub-zero temperatures and feel that this affects your comfort, a woven nylon strap is usually perceived as softer and more supple against the skin during the winter months.
